The purpose of this study was to identify the spinal origins of lateral and medial pectoral nerves and to evaluate the participating amounts of each spinal nerve composing both pectoral nerves. In the current case, the medial pectoral nerve arose directly from the middle trunk of the brachial plexus and the lateral pectoral nerve arose from the anterior division of the upper trunk of the brachial plexus. The most medial branch of the medial pectoral nerve directed to the pectoralis major muscle emerged from pectoralis minor at the third intercostal space in the midclavicular line, a mean of 10.3 cm lateral to the margin of the sternum. • Sternocostal Head: C6, C7, C8, T1 → anterior pectoral nerve → medial pectoral nerve → sternocostal head of pectoralis major branch. Note that pectoralis major heads could be cross innervated by the lateral and medial pectoral nerve, hence the variation and range of root origins for these nerves.

The lateral pectoral nerve (C5, C7) runs medially from the lateral cord of the brachial plexus and innervates the pectoralis major muscle. 2018-04-19 · The medial and lateral pectoral nerves form a connection, or loop, around the axillary artery, called ansa pectoralis. The lateral pectoral nerve has been described as double, while the medial The medial pectoral nerve courses through the pectoralis minor muscle to innervate the lower half or two-thirds of the pectoralis major muscle in 62% of patients. In the other 38% of patients, the medial pectoral nerve exits around the lateral aspect of the pectoralis minor muscle.3 There is no intramuscular course of the LPN. The medial pectoral nerve (medial anterior thoracic) arises from the medial cord of the plexus and through it from the eighth cervical and first thoracic..

The medial pectoral nerve (also known as the medial anterior thoracic nerve) arises from the medial cord (sometimes directly from the anterior division of the inferior trunk) of the brachial plexus, and through it from the eighth cervical and first thoracic roots (C8/T1). The lateral pectoral nerve typically origins from the spinal nerve roots C5-C7 and branches off the lateral cord of the brachial plexus It runs across the superior-medial margin of the minor pectoral muscle piercing the clavipectoral fascia (see next page) and enters the fascial space between the minor and major pectoral muscles; it innervates the two pectoral muscles
The lateral pectoral nerve arises from the lateral cord of the brachial plexus and is composed of branches of C5, C6, and C7. It provides control of the clavicular head and cross-innervates the sternocostal head of the muscle. The medial pectoral nerve arises from the medial cord of the brachial plexus and is composed of branches of C8 and T1.
The medial pectoral nerve supplies both the pectoralis minor muscle and sternocostal portions of the pectoralis major muscle. Relations. The medial pectoral nerve lies posterior to the axillary artery and anterior to the axillary vein. Along its course it receives a communicating branch from the lateral pectoral nerve to form a loop (ansa pectoralis) which runs anteriorly to both the axillary artery and vein.

It passes behind the first part of the axillary artery, curves forward between the axillary artery and vein, and unites in front of the artery with a filament from the lateral nerve..
